Wind and Power
We alternated between trying to take a shit and waiting
outside the Porta Potty. Six months after the construction had last been
touched the stall still stood beside the stack of vinyl panels, the birds still
rested in a line along the edge.
The wind wasn’t something noticeable all the time. In fact
it was only when it resisted our own forward motion when we realized our energy
is not the same. That flowering a under the northern exposure of sun is not the
same as heating our own home with a furnace or fireplace.
How many posts did we have to paint? Our right hands grew
heavier as the weeks continued. Soon we grew sloppy and left beads of paint
grow stiff with the heat. This is how texture changes—flies stuck to it no
matter what.
